Who is Rav Bina?

HaRav Aharon Bina began his teaching career in Yeshivat HaKotel in Jerusalem's Old City in 1974. Shortly thereafter he formed a program for students from the Diaspora wishing to soak in the atmosphere of learning Torah adjacent to the site of the Beit HaMikdash. The program began with a small number of people, and has since moved to Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh which boasts over two hundred students.

Rav Bina's main mentor was his father HaGaon HaRav Aryeh Bina zt"l who viewed education as development of character as well as ability to delve into the depths of the Torah and its texts. Rav Bina and his devoted staff teach their students to maximize their potential where each student, like a child, is a world of his own. Rav Bina literally devotes 24/7 to the Yeshiva, treating each student as if he were his own child. Rav Bina forms relationships with students that last for many years, and a significant amount of time during his overseas recruiting trips is spent meeting with alumni and advising them on different issues which may affect their lives.

Rav Bina spent his formative years in Jerusalem before moving on to the Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak where he spent the next ten years. Following his marriage in 1970 to Malke Milikovsky of Baltimore, Maryland, he spent a year in New York learning in the shiur of HaGaon HaRav Yoseph Dov HaLevi Soloveitchik and in the Kollel of Yeshiva University. Despite not being new to learning, Rav Bina feels that it was in Rav Soloveitchik's shiur that he acquired skills needed to advance in learning.

Following their return to Eretz Yisrael, Rav Bina spent several years learning in a Kollel headed by HaGaon HaRav Bezalel Zolty zt"l, shortly thereafter he received his Smicha from HaRav Ovadiah Yoseph, HaRav Unterman, and HaRav Shlomo Tinivansky who served as Rosh Beit Din of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Rav Bina also served in the Israeli Defense Force as captain and chaplain. Rebbetzin Bina taught in Michlala and subsequently founded, and still heads, the Matan Institute for Women. The Bina's five children and many grandchildren all live in Eretz Yisrael.
